Architecturally speaking, one of my favorite things to encounter are the colossal sculptures of New York City.
You’ll find them scattered all over the place, mostly on friezes, like this one, and on clocks. It seems that clocks just scream for colossal sculpture. This very manly reclining figure on on the Bowery Savings Bank downtown.
And like almost all architectural details, they just seem to look their best, their most dramatic, when rendered in black and white.
To photograph these beauties you’ll need a pretty long telephoto lens and a steady hand or tripod. But the results are always worth it.
Happy Shooting,
Bob Estremera
