I love to photograph Rome.
It’s an amazing city and, from a Euro-centric perspective, has the most interesting and relevant importance to Western Civilization.
OK, maybe that’s a bit much but really, Rome. Just the sound of it conjures up images of great architecture, culture and history.
But lest we get lost in the quest for that perfect shot of the Coliseum, Vatican or the Spanish Steps, Rome’s little places and visual slices can rival the most sought after photo destinations.
And so it is here. Just a little visual vignette really, some columns and a door. But check out the little skull and the details. Rome is full of these little compositional gems.
In fact, I could spend a lifetime photographing and creating beautiful images of Rome without ever taking a shot of a big attraction.
Don’t believe me? Put me to the test. I’m ready for that commission – any time!
I chose a little bit of a warm tone for this image because it actually matches the color palette of the original scene.
So next time you’re surrounded by big photographic targets, just look for a little slice of something really delicious. They’re all around you.
Happy shooting.
