This is taken at the Greek Gallery of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
I’ve always had love for antiquity. It has such romance and beauty. Of course, I draw the line at actually wanting to LIVE in that period. No iPads.
But I love the statues of bronze and marble. These three ladies, a little weathered to be sure, have still kept their figures and seeing them transforms me to a time in which row upon row of statues just like these led visitors to the great temples of the ancient Greek world.
Even more amazing is that the sheer numbers required of these statues, resulted in them being created in more of a mass-production environment and not as stand-alone artwork in which we regard them today.
Thanks for stopping by.
