We New York photographers and millions of tourists just LOVE to shoot the Flatiron Building.
I don’t usually allow my photos to exhibit the pixel-torture of extreme post processing, but this time, I liked it.
This was a blend of three exposures, fused together in Photomatix. Framed against a dramatic sky, this photo works with the blending of three elements; the strong geometry and details of the Flatiron Building, the sun, with it’s controlled brightness and the little squadron of flying pigeons.
Another element, here comes the torture part, is the strong ‘halo’ around the building caused by the blending of the images. There’s also a concentric halo around the inside of the sun.
All in all, there’s a surreal character to this photo that I think works.
Thanks for stopping by.
