New York City at night in the East Village is a favorite spot to shoot, anytime of day.
I was trying a new technique, OK, new for me, which was to use a flash rather than use a long exposure on a tripod. It’s a little more liberating to be sure.
Using the flash offers the added advantage of isolating the subject where everything else fades to black.
In this case, I loved the wall art in the little alcove with the arches. Classic old New York stuff.
And the garbage cans, well, that’s just icing on the cake.
Enjoy shooting,
Bob Estremera
