This is from the small series of experimental shots I did shooting at night with a flash. No, not the stealthy infrared kind where people can’t tell a flash went off. It’s the real paparazzi kind of flash that when it goes off people yell, “Hey, WTF!”
Usually when I shoot at night, I go for the natural look of the scene with multiple long exposures that I combine into one image. This night, after shooting an event using the flash, I decided to just keep it on the camera and shoot some stuff. I kind of like the unnatural look of the scene when lit by the artificial light source. It’s kind of like wildlife photographers that shoot animals at night when they trip an electronic shutter release.
I totally encourage everybody to try this. But when they yell at you, “Hey, WFT!”, just say, “Sorry” and move away quickly.
